Instructor: Martine Penco has been an Iyengar yoga practitioner for 33 years, since being referred by her osteopath to help strengthen her back. Iyengar Yoga, named after and developed by B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through the asanas. After experiencing the benefits of the Iyengar method herself she wanted to pass this on to others. In 2002 Martine qualified as an Iyengar teacher and has been teaching regularly since then.
